500 apartment units coming to the West End / North End area
Jan 2011 17

The Boston Redevelopment Authority will host a public meeting regarding the “Garden Garage” project on January 25th.

The Garden Garage project is Equity Residential’s proposal to replace a 710-unit garage with two mid/high-rise apartment buildings and partially-underground parking. The project is around the corner from the TD Boston Garden and faces that lonely five-story apartment building on Lomasney Way.

There will be as many as 500 units between the 21-story and 28-story towers and room for 850 cars. The project covers approximately 985,000 sq ft of development, of which approximately 551,000 sq ft is residential space, 22,000 sq ft is common area and amenity space for residents, and approximately 385,000 sq ft is for parking and mechanical equipment.

There has been no updates, apparently, on Delaware North’s plans to build two condo or apartment towers behind North Station but maybe this news will get them interested in pursuing residential housing in this rapidly developing neighborhood. And, maybe, just maybe, someday they’ll finish the front of the new Garden …
